When It All Started
Pierangelo Berta establishes Puntografica in Turin. His firm specialises in advertising graphics, creation of logos, trademarks and coordinated items for companies and shops. Working by hand and craftsmanship skills heavily characterise these first activities.
New Technologies
In 1980, Puntografica purchases four photocomposition machines and the production focuses on graphic layout of newspapers and magazines. In 1985, we are the first company in Piedmont that owns the CCI photocomposition system performing automated management of huge volumes of data. Puntografica starts acquiring the leading local publishing houses as its customers and they entrust us with the layout of school textbooks and university manuals.
Desktop Publishing
In 1990, Puntografica invests in a new type of laser photo-unit managing text and artwork at the same time under the control of an Apple IIFX computer with Pagemaker software. This new technology marks the start of desktop publishing activities. In the second half of the decade, Puntografica opens a new business channel in the field of technical publishing. We start producing use and maintenance manuals, spare parts catalogues and repair time charts for several manufacturers of automobiles, earth moving machinery, aircraft, and large and small household appliances.
A Benchmark at Local Level
The purchase of the graphic station SUN 2005 provides round-the-clock connection with the customers’ design records for the purposes of technical publishing. We start producing documentation also for companies operating in the railroad/train sector. In these years, Puntografica consolidates its benchmark position in the field of pre-press activities in Turin. At the same time, we achieve the transition to video layout using a Mac platform.
Digitalisation
We witness ever increasing digitalisation of publishing contents. Next to the standard production meant for paper printing of textbooks and technical documentation, Puntografica keeps up to date and specialises in multimedia processes, products for multimedia interactive boards, online data sheets, and interactive operation manuals.
